A 'pop-up' restaurant (albeit for 10+ years) in a former cloister (and state monument). In summer dinner is served under the leafy trees of Beatrix park, in winter in the round chapel of the former monastery. Great organic cuisine, some ingredients grown in their own garden. As it is officially a pop-up, the kitchen is outdoor in a tent and centres around a big wood fired oven/bbq.

Drinks & Nightlife

Iconic bar (since the early 1900's); great people watching, small but tasty food menu and great tap beers.

Parks & Nature

Quiet and pretty; nature at our door step, great to escape the hustle & bustle of the big smoke! Just mind the running dogs, they can be off lead throughout the whole park.

Sightseeing

While most people flock to her hiding place (Anne Frank House), our neighbourhood is where Anne Frank actually grew up, went to school and played in the streets before she had to go in hiding with her family. This is the school she went to, and her elderly home is around the corner. It has been completely restored into the state it was when she lived there. It now serves as a refuge place, granted to writers that are prosecuted in their own country and offered free of rent during the time they need to write their books.

Listed as one of the top-5 shopping streets in the whole country, Beethovenstraat caters to the (Dutch) rich & famous as much as the local residents with shops ranging from high-end boutiques to small organic cheese and wine shops. Special mention to De Logie, our favourite wine merchant and Van Rossum, a bookstore that has been operating from this shop since the street was created (in the 1920's).

Arts & Culture

World famous for its acoustic qualities, the 'Royal Concertgebouw' was surrounded by meadows when it was constructed in the 1800's. Now of course it lies in the heart of the chique neighbourhoods of the 19th century Amsterdam.

Great organic supermarket; we consider it our own personal larder :) Open from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and literally 3 doors down.
