Lake Crescent is a extremely deep lake, located entirely within Olympic National Park, and known for its brilliant blue waters and exceptional clarity. Lake Crescent is 18 miles west of Port Angeles, following Hwy 101on the south side of the 12 mile long lake, curving right along its shore with breathtaking scenery. The La Poel Picnic Area is on the south shore of Lake Crescent, just off of Olympic Highway, a ways after Lake Crescent Lodge. It is a small day use area with a dense tree canopy and amazing lake view, perfect for a picnic.
