The pink-granite building is the centerpiece of downtown Austin, perched on a hill at 12th Street and Congress Avenue. Free guided tours are held daily, starting in the South Foyer, but brochures are also available on the first floor for self-guided tours. The Texas Legislature meets every two years, so you’ll have to check the schedule if you want to see an actual session in progress.
If you are visiting Texas for the first time, the state Capital is a must see! Be sure to get a guided tour to learn some of the most interesting facts.
I’ve been many times and it’s a beautiful building. Did you know the Texas State Capitol building is the tallest in the nation? Taller than the National Capitol in DC.
You can’t visit near the capital of Texas without a trip to the Texas Capitol! Come see where Texas legislation gets made.
Texas Capitol is in walking distance from our property. While it could be a bit hot to walk in Summer months, the rest of the year it is worth to visit and walk in a beautiful park.
