“Start your shopping tour from the old market, a narrow pedestrian street where little shops are lined up, ending at the Turkish Sebil. This is one of the oldest markets in town where many people go for their everyday groceries and where you can also find souvenir shops, spice & herb shops, taverns and cafes. If you want to buy mountain herbal tea, try those endemic ones to Crete: dittany (diktamo), known for its therapeutic and aphrodisiac qualities, malotiraSideritis syriaca or "Cretan mountain tea"), and Cretan faskomilo (Mountain SageIn Try local cheeses such as graviera (made from sheep’s milk) white cheese (feta), myzithra (unpasteurized fresh cheese)”

“Η οδός Μαρτύρων 25ης Αυγούστου ενώνει το κέντρο της πόλης με το λιμάνι. Σπουδαιότατος εμπορικός δρόμος ανέκαθεν. Είναι ο ίδιος από την εποχή της Βενετοκρατίας, οπότε λεγόταν Buga Maistra. ”

“Saint Titus, or more properly the church of Saint Titus in Heraklion, is one of the most important monuments in the centre of town, on 25th of August Street. It is set in a lovely square with a few cafés and bars, Agios Titos Square. Agios Titos means Saint Titus in Greek. The minaret of Saint Titus was demolished in the 1920s, when the last Muslims left Heraklion with the exchange of populations between Greece and Turkey. Today Saint Titus (Agios Titos in Greek) is an Orthodox church dedicated to St Titus the Apostle, following modifications carried out by the Church of Crete in 1925.”
