The African Spurred Tortoise, also called the Sulcata Tortoise, are the third largest species of tortoise in the world. These tortoises can weigh in over 100 pounds, some males even reach 200 pounds. LORY PARROT FEEDING Each day visitors may enter the lory parrot aviary and mingle with the birds. This complete, four season, recreational community maintains over forty (40) miles of paved roads and modern central sewer and water systems. Part of the Wallenpaupack Watershed, the community has three main bodies of water commonly used for recreational purposes: Roamingwood Lake (198 acres); Deerfield Lake (25 acres); and Brooks Lake (9 acres). Also located within the community are Windemere Lake (1 acre); Hidden Lake (1 acre); and Big Springs Pond (3 acres). Guests are greeted by our Entrance Pond (3.2 acres) and eventually makes its way down to Lake Wallenpaupack via Ariel Creek. Recreation Galore: Recreational Sports Complex, Golf Course, Indoor/Outdoor Tennis, Power Boat Lake, Two Sand Beaches, Two Heated Outdoor Pools, Physical Fitness Center, Mini Golf, Art Center, Woodworkers Building, Ski Lift and Lodge, Tubing Run. Recreational Sports Complex The Recreational Sports Complex is a multifaceted sport complex that provides members and their guests with various services and is the main hub to all your recreational activities in the Hideout. Ski Hill **The Ski Hill is open to Members and Guests of The Hideout only** When winter places its cold and snowy grip on Northeast Pennsylvania, head over to the Hideout Winter Sports Complex located off Westwood Drive across from the Nubia Malkin Art Center. We have three ski trails accessed from the top of our chairlift, a beginner’s slope with surface lift access and a tube hill with its own lift access. There is also a natural ice skating rink.
