This one’s so close to home it’s easy to forget. Behind Archavon, and at the true heart of the town is the Plên (The Cornish pronounce it Plain). This medieval amphitheater has been used for public events, in particular staging of the miracle plays. It is considered to by Britain’s oldest theatre. The big rocks in the space look as if they might have ancient significance, but were in fact used for hand drilling contests until recently.

The Plain. Unless you're told otherwise the Plain in St Just is just a nice green field in the middle of town. In actual fact the Plain-an-Garry is the oldest theatre in Britain, pre-dating Shakespeare's Globe by more years than anyone can remember or guess at. It was originally used to preform the Miracle Plays in, and in recent years the Ordinal cycle has been revived. It's also the centre of the Lafrowda Festival as well as many other events and plays during the year. The huge rocks in a small circle were used for rock drilling competitions using hand drills - blinking hard work, but then the miners had to be hard men.
