Hidden gem forgotten in time, memorialized by its park and location, exploding whale park gets its name from just that. An exploding whale! In November of 1970, it was determined by officials that the only way to dispose of a beached whale was to blow it up with dynamite. This epic fail can be found on YouTube, and is uniquely apart of the local history. A whole new meaning to “A blast from the past”. A terrific place to catch the sunset over the bridge, enjoying the views of the dunes at this riverfront park. Come sit on the huge lawn chair and snap a pic to send to family and friends!
