McKittrick Canyon is stunning! The first mile or so is deserty and sparse, but then once you get into the canyon, the views start to become beautiful. In November, the fall colors between Pratt Cabin and The Grotto are some of the best. Wear good shoes!

Beautiful hiking especially in the fall. According to Google Maps it is 43 miles and 1 hour from Farmhouse on the Pecos!

Mckittrick Canyon trail is a flatter alternative that follows a dry creek bed and canyon deep into the Guadalupe Mountains. The deeper you go, the more the vegetation changes as springs in the canyon create a desert oasis. You can find some of the best fall colors in Texas if you're here in the right time of the year. This is a really fun, pretty and relaxing hike. There are some neat things to see along the hike, including an old cabin from one of the early settlers.
