The beach of Foneas is the most favorite of the less known beaches of Western Mani, as it is well “hidden ” at the end of a path between the trees. It is untouched by tourism, basically unorganized (with only one canteen with tables during the summer months) and it has white pebbles and turquoise waters. The characteristic of beach of Foneas is a large rock separating it into two parts and offers natural shade. The most flexible … and the adventurous visitors can climb and dive from there into the deep waters. The beach of Foneas is located near the beach Delphinia , just 2.5 km to the southeast of Kardamyli on the way to Laconia. In a sharp turn, where you pass over a bridge with yellow bars, you will see an asphalt and a dirt road to go down. You can take the asphalted road by car where you will find a parking space with several trees. The known Gorge of Foneas or ravine Noupanti results in the beach of Foneas and it begins to form from the Monastery of Vaidenitsa and ends after about 8 km in crystal beach.

Beautiful pebbly beach (no sand). Usually quiet and very peaceful with tiny beach café and really good swimming and snorkelling. However, recently it has been discovered on social media. Eekk. It now gets much busier at certain times, especially the weekends. Coming from Isna go right at the bottom of the hill. Carry on along the main road past the turns for Stoupa etc. and head to towards Kardamyli. Foneas is a left turn off the main road right on a very sharp left bend. You take a rough track down to a shady parking place in an olive grove. There is a huge rock in the sea that you can swim around and you can also see this from the road.
