Beautiful museum in the style of a French chateau. Full of interesting art, french furniture, ceramics and beautiful objects including the famous, rare automaton The Silver Swan. The museum also has a wonderful cafe and gardens and hosts interesting events and exhibitions.

Unique museum full of local and national history. Very family friendly with activities for the kids and beautiful grounds with adventure playgrounds. Cafe is also worth a visit.

Award winning museum in an astonishing building - often called the V&A of the North! Art lovers and curious minds alike will love the Bowes, an absolute favourite of mine. Make a day of it and take a short walk into Barnard Castle town - some fabulous interiors and antiques shops, local eateries and ancient pubs.
