Best to use vroomvroomvroom.com.au as a booking platform to book the rental cars before renting a car. Locals normally go though the website and reserve a car before going in to rent a car as by doing so, even if we need to cancel the reservation, we don't get penalised.

There are a few car rental place on Spencer Street next Southern Cross Station within walking distance. Thrifty Car and Tuck Rental, Avis, Europcar Melbourne are well known and reliable car rental companies.
