Also known as Statia, its appeal is mainly underwater: intrepid divers travel to see sting rays, sharks, seahorses, turtles and eels in different ecosystems and shipwrecks. On land, visit museums and historical sites and stretch along the volcanic beaches that emerge amidst the rugged terrain. Oranjestad, the only town, is the best base for digital nomads in the island.
