James was great. Showed us the ropes of a tapa filled evening, complete with information on the pitfalls a tourist like myself could easily fall into. More history than he gives himself credit for, so a perfect intro to central Madrid. Group was great and easy to get along with. Highly recommend for a first timer or seasoned Madrid vet. If you’re looking for a great local food tour, book this! James was a wonderful tour guide and we loved seeing Madrid tapas through his eyes and stories. We especially appreciated his selection of local spots (not the touristy ones). His food tour is unique in that food and drink are on him at the first spot, and then on the guests thereafter, but this meant we got to order what we want (with James offering suggestions). Highly recommended booking this!

Friendly entertaining guide who looked after us well

This tour with James was such a fun and special experience! He gave us an amazing introduction to tapas culture in Madrid and told us about other parts of Spain, too, which was useful for the rest of our trip. He has been living in Madrid for over 20 years, so he knew about so many cool spots that we would have not found on our own. All the food we tried was delicious! He recommended dishes + drinks at each tapas restaurant or bar, and pushed our group to try new items while still being extremely accommodating about all dietary restrictions and preferences. (My parter is a vegetarian and James made sure that he still got to try great food at each stop on the tour -- some of which was a highlight of the night for everyone!)
James also helped the group connect and ensured everyone was having a lovely time throughout the evening. By the end, it felt like we were having tapas with a fun group of friends. Highly recommend this tour for everyone!
